… says President’s silence on lingering feud between FCT Minister, Fubara worrisome

A group, 21st-Century Youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience (21st CYNDAC), on Tuesday, expressed worries over President Bola Tinubu’s silence on the unending political crisis in Rivers State.

The group also described the Rivers debacle as disturbing, worrisome and unacceptable.

Leader of the youth group, Izon Ebi, in a statement, condemned the long silence of the President, stressing that the reason for the current intractable crisis and skirmishes by political actors in Rivers State could not be far-fetched.

Ebi accused Tinubu of refusing to call the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, to order.

He warned that Wike’s quest for political control of the incumbent Governor of a state and even government apparatus should not be seen as being sanctioned and approved by the President, as it seemed to be at the moment.

The group noted that the political crisis in Rivers State is a fight between a political godfather and a godson, as well as a resistance to the capture of state resources and institutions for the use and benefit of a godfather and his people.

The statement partly read, “The 21st-century youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience ( 21st CYNDAC ) condemn the silence of Mr President to call his minister to order.

“The reason for the political crisis in Rivers State is not far-fetched. It’s a fight between a renegade political Godfather and a godson; it’s a resistance to the capture of state Resources and institutions for the use and benefit of a godfather and his loyalists.

“The 21st Century youths of Niger Delta and Agitators with conscience ( 21st CYNDAC) use this medium to admonish the adversaries to allow peace to reign and allow state institutions to function according to the dictates of the Constitution.

“There is no position in the Constitution whereby a man becomes a state and openly boasts of making a state ungovernable and the Federal government.

“With all the country’s instruments of coercion is loudly silent and tacitly giving support to a godfather without taking cognizance of the welfare of citizens of the state into consideration.

“Undermining the authority of the state governor by laying siege at local government headquarters by the Nigerian police is an act of taking partisanship to the extreme as the past government of Wike sacked a duly elected local government council and replaced them with caretaker, the Police or any other agency of government never laid siege on the council areas despite the fact that Amaechi was also a Minister and was in a chummy relationship with the then President.”
