The Association of New Ogun Civil and Public Service Retirees (ANOCPSR) on Wednesday begged Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun to create time for them for physical meeting with them to jointly address the controversy surrounding the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS)

The retirees made the call during their third peaceful protest held at the gate of the Governor at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, lamenting that since they commenced the protests over two months ago, they have not received positive response.

They recalled that the previous protests they held, the Permanent Secretaries who addressed them have always been making pledge to report back to the governor, yet no cheering news have ever come thereafter.

The association led by the chairman, Oluwole Omopariola came with mats to sleep overnight until the Governor create time to see them physically, and equally seen with various placards with inscriptions such as, ‘Lisen to Our Crying’, Don’t Kill Us’, ’We deserve the Best’, ‘No to CPS’, We want DBS’ and ‘No to APB’, among others

The chairman while speaking explained that members came to meet the governor, adding that they retired since July last year, but yet to reap fruits of their labour, stressing that they are suffering

‘We are here to meet the Governor. We want him to come out to see us. We know him to be a kind Governor and workers friendly. We are suffering, since July last year we have not been given our pension’, he lamented

‘We have dependants, we have relatives. Governor should have mercy on us. We don’t want CPS. We want DBS. We don’t want APB. We want our monthly pension and gratuity. We have served government with our strength, it is time to enjoy services rendered to the state’, Omopariola stated

‘This is our third protests; we want Governor to meet us physically. We deserve rest after labour. Return us to DBS. We are begging, we want to see the Governor. Governor, please listen to our cry’, he emphasised.
