Police in Niger State have arrested 17 persons over an alleged investment fraud involving about ₦4 million, reportedly collected from four victims under the guise of operating a QNET online investment scheme.

State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed this in a statement in Minna, on Sunday.

The suspects were arrested on October 26 following a complaint by the victims, who jointly reported the alleged fraud at Tudun-Wada Divisional Police Headquarters.

The victims alleged that the suspects defrauded them of the money while claiming to work for Quest International, also known as QNET Online Investment.

Following the complaint, police operatives stormed an apartment around Farm Centre where the suspects were said to be residing and arrested 17 persons.

The suspects were identified as Muaheed Mukhtar, Yahaya Salisu, Samir Shuaibu, Abdulrahman Aliyu, Hakilu Aliyu, Abdulrahman Dange, Hassan Yusuf, Aliyu Musa Adamu, Usman Adamu, Abdullahi Ibrahim, Abdulhameed Abdullahi, Mustapha Adams, Shuaibu Hamza, Abdulsalam Abdulazeez, Abdulazeez Nasir, Umar Mohammed and Umar Faruk.

The police said during interrogation, the suspects confessed to their alleged fraudulent activities and mentioned two other persons, identified as Murtala Ishaq and Idris Planner, who are currently at large.

The command said the 17 suspects had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Minna, for further investigation and prosecution.
