…orders installation of CCTV cameras
President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, promised that measures will be put in place to ensure that the killings that took place in Jos, the Plateau State capital, last weekend, are not repeated.
The President also promised that over 5, 000 cameras will be installed to assist the security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators of heinous crime.
Tinubu while addressing residents of Plateau during his visit, said there is nothing he could give them, but only to “console you and promise you that this experience will not repeat itself.
“We will try our best to comfort you, to work with you. The best solution is for Jos to be just. The world that people like us grew up to know.”
He added that the Minister for Communication will “install immediately a network of camera that will help the law enforcement agencies to identify the troublemakers instantly. Over 5,000. We will do a network. But as soon you can.”
The President thanked armed forces personnel for their efforts, “particularly the police for what they are doing and what they are about to do. You must unearth and find the killers. I’m glad IGP is here. I’m glad COAS is here, too, Chief of Army Staff. I’m glad the Minister of Defence is here. Our dear leaders, I’ve been to Jos. I’ve enjoyed jos. In those days of peace, we’ve had our political activities here.”
