Photos have emerged allegedly showing Hon. Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi, the declared winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bauchi South Senatorial Primary, picking up members of the party’s governorship primary election committee at the Gombe Airport ahead of the exercise.
The development has sparked concerns among party stakeholders, who allege that the incident raises serious questions about the credibility, transparency, and integrity of the primary election process, as well as the possibility of collusion and manipulation.
The controversy comes amid growing tension within the party, following the withdrawal of one of the aspirant and serving Bauchi South Senator, Shehu Buba Umar, from the race.
The senator cited fears of unfair treatment and lack of a level playing field as reasons for his decision to step down from the contest.
Stakeholders have continued to call for transparency and fairness in the conduct of the party’s primaries to safeguard the integrity of the democratic process.
