Three indigenes of Oyo State who are currently working with President Bola Tinubu are expected to resign from their positions any moment from now.
They are expected to resign their appointments before March 31 this year.
Their decision to resign from government follows a directive by President Tinubu earlier this week.
Tinubu had, a few days ago, through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, directed all political appointees under his administration seeking to contest elective positions in the 2027 general elections to resign before March 31.
Head of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dewan Goshit, made this declaration in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Three of the affected appointees are Mr Adebayo Adelabu, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, and Engineer Rauf Olaniyan.
They are all gubernatorial aspirants on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress expected to resign in order to pursue their governorship ambitions in the 2027 general elections in the state.
Adelabu, who hails from Ibadan, the state capital, is the current Minister of Power. He was appointed by Tinubu in 2023.
Shittu, who is the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Dave Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences in Ebonyi State, had earlier served as Minister of Communications under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Shittu, who is from Saki in the Oke Ogun geopolitical zone, was appointed by Tinubu in June 2024.
Olaniyan, a former deputy governor of the state, is the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo.
He assumed the position in July 2024.
However, none of the three individuals has resigned from their positions.
They are, however, expected to throw in their towels any moment from now in order to pursue their individual governorship ambitions.
