Accord Party has defeated the All Progressives Congress at the polling unit of Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former governor of Osun, in Okuku, Odo-Otin LGA of the state.

A review of the result sheet uploaded by the Independent National Electoral Commission on its IReV portal showed that Accord secured 125 votes at Oyinlola’s polling unit.

The APC came second with 85 votes, while the African Democratic Congress polled five votes.

The African Action Congress secured two votes, while the Social Democratic Party, Young Progressive Party and Zenith Labour Party recorded one vote each.

Other parties, including the Action Alliance, Action Democratic Party, All Progressives Grand Alliance, Allied Peoples Movement, Action Peoples Party, Boot Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party and Peoples Redemption Party, scored no votes.

The result sheet showed that 228 voters were accredited, while 220 valid votes were cast and eight ballots were rejected.

Oyinlola cast his vote at Court Hall I in Okuku, Odo-Otin LGA.

Accord also defeated Iyiola Omisore, former deputy governor of Osun State and APC chieftain, at his polling unit in PU 003, Ife Ward 1, Moore, St Gabriel Primary School, Ife East LGA.

A review of the result sheet uploaded by the Independent National Electoral Commission on its IReV portal showed that Accord polled 131 votes, while the All Progressives Congress secured 85 votes. The African Democratic Congress received 10 votes.

The outcome came days after Oyinlola and Omisore publicly endorsed Bola Oyebamiji, the APC candidate, ahead of the election.

Oyinlola, who governed Osun from 2003 to 2010, backed Oyebamiji despite his previous affiliation with political parties opposed to the APC.
