Over 100 Chief Executive Officers of broadcast media houses across Nigeria will converge on Calabar, Cross River State, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, for a crucial meeting to review current challenges confronting the broadcast industry and proffer solutions.

The meeting, hosted by the Cross River State Government, will be declared open by the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, at the Conference Hall of Hogis Royale Hotel, State Housing Estate, Calabar, by 10:00 a.m.

According to a statement signed by the Executive Secretary of the
Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria, Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose, and made available to Daily Newshub on Tuesday, the Chairman of BON, Senior High Chief Tony Akiotu, will preside over the meeting.

The statement said top on the meeting’s agenda are issues of multiple taxation imposed on private broadcast stations and dwindling funding for government-owned radio and television stations.

It further stated that a communique is expected to be issued at the end of the meeting.
