Members of the Osun State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, unanimously passed a vote of confidence in and also endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term.
The governorship election in Osun State is scheduled to hold in 2026.
Hon Adewumi Adeyemi, representing the Obokun State Constituency initiated the motion for the vote of confidence
and was seconded by Taofiq Olayiwola from Ede South State Constituency.
The lawmakers made the endorsement during a plenary session on Tuesday, where the 26-member Assembly comprising 25 members from the Peoples Democratic Party and one from the All Progressives Congress, expressed their full support for the Governor.
Speaker Adewale Egbedun, who presided over the plenary, praised the governor’s achievements in celebration of his 65th birthday.
Egbedun commended the Governor for his dedication to the development of Osun State, highlighting his impactful governance and commitment to his five-point agenda.
The Speaker stressed that the lawmakers, as representatives of the people, took pride in the Governor’s leadership, urging him to continue striving for even greater accomplishments.
While inviting his colleagues to share their thoughts on the endorsement, Simeon Popoola, representing the Boripe-Boluwaduro State Constituency, delivered a heartfelt tribute to the governor, praising his integrity and genuine nature.
He said, “Politics aside, Mr Governor is a plain-minded personality, loving and genuine. These attributes have greatly assisted him in his performance.”
Following the motion, the Speaker called for a vote, which the chamber upheld.
