Nigeria, Abeokuta – The Olódó-Dẹ Elders of Yorubaland Association, one of most organised cultural organisations in South-Western Nigeria, has reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to the preservation, promotion, and advancement of Yoruba culture and social development.

Founded in 2025, the association continues to play a strategic role in safeguarding Yoruba heritage while addressing contemporary social and developmental challenges within Yorubaland.

In a recently released document e-signed by its Founder/National Coordinator, Jide Kamilu and Special Adviser on Media, Elder Adetokunbo Fakeye, the association outlined its core aims and objectives, emphasising cultural preservation, education, media engagement, social welfare, unity and tourism development.

According to the statement, the renewed focus reflects the organisation’s dedication to sustaining Yoruba values for future generations while contributing meaningfully to community development.

A central objective of the association is the encouragement and upliftment of Yoruba culture, including customs, traditions and moral values that define the identity of the Yoruba people.

Closely aligned with this goal is the teaching of the Yoruba language as a formal course, aimed at preventing language erosion and ensuring that younger generations remain fluent and culturally grounded.

The association also plans to support the establishment of Yoruba radio, television and other media programmes.

These platforms are intended to serve as channels for cultural education, information dissemination and the promotion of Yoruba history, arts and contemporary issues to a wider audience, both locally and internationally.

Beyond cultural advocacy, the Olódó-Dẹ Elders of Yorubaland Association has reiterated its commitment to social responsibility, including giving aids and assistance to the less privileged across Yorubaland. The trustees noted that community welfare remains a key pillar of the association’s mission.

Another major focus area is the fostering of unity among members and mediation of conflicts within Yorubaland. The association aims to promote peace, dialogue, and mutual understanding among individuals, communities, and traditional institutions, reinforcing stability and harmony in the region.

Additionally, the association seeks to promote tourism in Yorubaland by highlighting its rich cultural heritage, historical landmarks, festivals, and traditional institutions. This initiative is expected to contribute to economic growth, cultural exchange, and regional development.

The Olódó-Dẹ Elders of Yorubaland Association has promised to remain committed to its founding ideals, positioning itself as a custodian of Yoruba heritage and a catalyst for unity, cultural preservation, and sustainable development.
