…vows to ensure coronation of a new King during his one year tenure

From Seyi Tayese, Yenagoa

Acting Amayanabo of Okpoama Kingdom in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, His Highness
Nathan Dimunanengi Egba-Dienagha has promised to use his one year tenure to enshrine accountability, election and coronation of a new King for the Kingdom.

His Highness, Nathan Dimunanengi Egba-Dienagha, in a statement issued on Friday, also promised to end cases of vendetta, revenge, discrimination or elimination in the narrative of the kingdom despite the fact that many people have tried to frame the narrative around the Court cases as vendetta and anti-Kingdom.

The Acting Amayanabo of Okpoama Kingdom, in a statement made available to newsmen, said though the sudden and unexpected abdication of the former King, His Majesty King Ebitimi E. Banigo, Okpo XXI, from the throne led to series of cases but that they were all efforts at seeking clarity and proper understanding of the Okpoama Kingdom’s constitution of 2008.

He called on the people of Okpoama Kingdom to view the declarative judgment passed by Justice T.Y. Abasi of the Brass-Nembe High Court in Suit No BYHC/CV/4/2025, on Tuesday 13th January, 2026, as an end to all such cases.

His Highness, Nathan Dimunanengi Egba-Dienagha vowed to use his 12 months tenure as handed by the Justice Abasi court, to see to the election and coronation of a new King for Okpoama Kingdom.

He said ” Justice Abasi in his ruling stated explicitly that my tenure as Acting Amayanabo is for 12 calendar months, at the end of which period I must see to the election and coronation of a new King for our beloved Okpoama Kingdom.”

“This obviously is a very serious and onerous assignment that requires total application of all my abilities, capabilities, and the special grace of God.”

“I however, recognize that there is no way I can successfully deliver on this unique assignment without the full support and cooperation of every Okpoama man and woman. Critical decision-making process will involve wide consultations and consensus building.*

“In light of the above, there is no time for vendetta, revenge, discrimination, or elimination. Rather, I call on everyone who loves and believes in Project Okpoama to join hands with me in working towards a new Okpoama that preaches and practices real love, durable peace and unity of purpose, which are some of the qualities our dear Kingdom used to be known for amongst the Nembe speaking people.”

He also assured the people of Okpoama Kingdom of ensuring an era of proper finance management, Transparency and development,”I want to use this opportunity to assure all that under my watch as Acting Amayanabo, the finances of the Kingdom would be handled carefully and in a transparent manner.”

“Whatever funds that accrue to the Kingdom would be deployed solely for the best interest of the people of the Kingdom. We will work assiduously in collaboration with external partners and associates to attract development to our Kingdom while also tapping into our God-given resources to grow the Okpoama economy.”

“In that connection, let me assure our brothers and sisters on the Brass Island and the rest of Brass LGA, that I will always pursue peace and dialogue in all situations in order to promote harmonious coexistence. It is therefore, my hope and prayers that our neighbors would also seek to live with us in like manner too.”

He expressed his appreciation to the former Acting Amayanabo, His Highness Paul Briggs Omubo-Suobagha for his many years of selfless service and dedication to the cause of our Kingdom.

” In the same vein, I wish to express my gratitude to the Amayana-ongu of our various component communities, my immediate constituency, the EXCO and members of the ever vibrant Okpoama Kingdom Council of Chiefs OKCC, the Council of Deputy Chiefs, as well as some great sons and daughters of the Kingdom who have been working tirelessly, including deploying their personal resources towards bringing about resolution of the various conflicts of ideas.”

” I also want to thank members of the various administrative organs of the Kingdom and, most importantly… the people of Okpoama for their resilience during the many trying moments and the prayers for peace in our Kingdom
I sincerely believe that if we can all try and forgive each other, then together, we can take Okpoama to greater heights.”

“Permit me to close with prayers to the Almighty Lord for the peaceful repose of the souls of two great sons of Okpoama Kingdom we recently lost, namely the inimitable Chief Emmanuel S. Beredugo-Elei and our dear father, Engr. Prof. Youpele Orukalama Beredugo.”
