…say incident unbecoming of governorship candidate
A group of Edo Concerned youths has lambasted the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the state, Sen Monday Okpebholo, for allegedly belittling the office of a governor by fighting over campaign funds.
The youths such an attitude exhibited by Okpebolo was unbecoming of a governorship candidate aiming at occupying the number office in the state.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, the group through its Secretary, James Eriki said that the alleged fighting between the APC candidate and his campaign manager had gone to show that the opposition party had nothing to offer for the progress of the state, but merely after the spoils of office.
Recall that on Monday, it was reported that a physical altercation erupted between Okpehbolo and a key leader of his campaign organisation, Pastor Osagie Ize-iyamu, over campaign finances.
He said a situation where because of money, a governorship candidate and his campaign manager could engage in fisticuffs in the open, goes to show the type of leadership the party wants to foster on the state.
“Edolites can see that Senator Okpebholor can not show us that he is up to the task and ready for the job of the number citizen of Edo State,” the youths said.
According to the group, the Edo people, including the few who are supporting the APC flagbearer are fast losing hope that anything good will come out of him.
