Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has cast his vote in the ongoing local government council elections in the state.
Abiodun arrived at Ward 3, Polling Unit 002, Ita Osanyin, Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area of the state at about 11:24 am to perform his civic duty.
Abiodun, who spoke with newsmen after exercising his civic franchise, commended the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission for their preparedness towards the election.
The Governor, while admitting the delay of electoral officers and materials to various polling units in the state, noted that logistics has always been a challenge in all elections.
He said, “I want to first appreciate the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission for their level of preparedness for this election.
“The feedback I have gotten shows that they are very diligent. In every election, we can’t rule out maybe some logistics hiccups, but by and large, I’ve been informed that as of now, the electoral materials have reached all the nooks and crannies of the state, and the process of voting has commenced in earnest.”
He expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of the electorate at his polling unit despite the economic challenges in the country, adding that it shows the citizens are ready to engage in governance.
Abiodun added, “I want to thank the good people of Ogun State who have come out in their numbers to express themselves through the ballot.
“I see this as a vote of confidence particularly at this time when we know that it costs more than it cost in the last election.
“I want to appreciate their support for democracy, and I confidently say that in the end, everyone will be happy.”
