Director General of Hon. Ladi Adebutu’s PDP Governorship Campaign Organisation, Mr. Kehinde Shogunle, has defended the sale of Ogun State-owned Gateway Hotels to the family of the PDP flagbearer, describing the development as a “good investment.”
Shogunle, who the Ogun State commissioner for finance under the administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel, stated that there was nothing spectacular about the sale of the hotel, a commonwealth of Ogun State, to private interests.

Shogunle stated this while featuring as a guest on a live radio programme on Rock City FM 101.9 in Abeokuta, on Saturday.
The former commissioner argued that the sale of the hotels were done transparently and in the best interest of the state by the Daniel administration, stressing that disposing of the hotels was not a “big deal,” as he supported the sale.
“The thing went through a process and at that point in time the person that happened to bring in most resources and network to revive Gateway Hotels was Chief Adebutu,” he said.
Recall that a chieftain of the Ogun PDP, Ambassador Folake Marcus- Bello, was one of the General Managers of the then Gateway Hotels, which were run aground to justify arguments for their sale to private interests.
The Gateway Hotels at Abeokuta, Ota and Ijebu Ode were legacy projects of the Olabisi Onabanjo administration that employed many indigenes of Ogun State before they were sold/leased to private interests with Gateway Hotels, Abeokuta now renamed Park Inn Hotel under the ownership of the Adebutus.
