The Ilaro Muslim community has announced the burial of its beloved son and veteran Yoruba actor, Alhaji Hassan Taiwo, popularly known as ‘Ogogo.’
Chief Imam of Ilaro, in a statement, on Sunday, said the funeral prayers will be held at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground at 10:00 a.m tomorrow.

‘Ogogo,’ who hailed from Ilaro, Ogun State, was a prominent figure in the Yoruba film industry. He was renowned as an actor, filmmaker and traditional chant performer. He remained one of the respected veterans of Nollywood. He was also known for his distinctive roles in Yoruba-language films and his contribution to the promotion of Yoruba culture.
His career was, however, marked by periods of serious health challenges. In 2025, Ogogo spoke publicly about battling chronic ulcer for several years.
More recently, his family disclosed that the 66-year-old actor had been battling stage-four cancer and appealed for urgent medical assistance.
Reports said his condition had deteriorated, prompting colleagues, fans and well-wishers to organise prayers and seek specialist medical care for him.
The announcement of the veteran actor’s burial has therefore come as a major shock to his fans, colleagues and the people of Ilaro, who will continue to remember him for his remarkable career and cultural contributions.
