…highlights lawmaker’s interventions at institution, other communities
Rector of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, has highlighted the developments recorded at the institution since he assumed office.

He disclosed that the institution had expanded its academic programmes from 21 at the time he assumed office to 60 programmes.
Dr. Oluseye made this known on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, when he received members of the League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners (LOYAMP) during a courtesy visit to his office at OGITECH, Igbesa, in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The Rector explained that his administration had also made significant progress in addressing some of the institution’s longstanding challenges, including infrastructure, land ownership, funding, staff welfare, and human capital development.
According to him, the institution faced considerable infrastructural and land-related challenges when he assumed office, but substantial progress had since been made in addressing them.
He noted that funding remained a concern, particularly because OGITECH was the only state-owned tertiary institution serving the Ogun West axis.
Dr. Oluseye further disclosed that staff welfare and professional development were among the challenges he inherited, adding that he had worked to address them through administrative engagement and other measures.
Speaking on academic staff development, he said the number of PhD holders at the institution had increased considerably under his leadership.
“I also met just two PhD holders in the institution, but now we have up to 26 PhD holders at OGITECH”, he said.
The Rector’s remarks highlighted the institution’s reported expansion in academic programmes and the growth in the number of staff members holding doctoral qualifications during his tenure.
Responding to a question about Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, Dr. Oluseye commended the senator representing Ogun West at the National Assembly, and Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations for his contributions to infrastructural development and human empowerment across Ogun State, particularly in Ogun West Senatorial District.
The Rector expressed optimism that Ogun State would benefit from Senator Adeola’s experience and developmental initiatives if he became governor in 2027, by the grace of God.
Recounting his relationship with the senator, Dr. Oluseye said he had known Senator Adeola for more than 15 years and had closely followed his political career and performance during his years of service in Lagos State.
He described the senator as a dependable individual whose contributions to education, infrastructure, and community development had made a significant impact on OGITECH and the Igbesa community.
The Rector highlighted Senator Adeola’s interventions in road construction, electricity, water supply, solar power installations, and the provision of transformers, buses, and other facilities for the institution.
According to him, the senator had also supported road construction projects in different parts of Ogun West, including the Ejila-Awori and Lusada roads, while facilitating the construction of a civic centre in Igbesa.
Speaking about the senator’s interventions at the institution, Dr. Oluseye said: “He has provided many things, including electricity, roads, water, solar power, transformers, buses, and so on for us at OGITECH.
“Yayi has even begun the construction of the Ejila-Awori Road, Lusada Road, and other projects. He even built a civic centre here in Igbesa.
“Honestly, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Yayi cannot be forgotten at OGITECH and in the Igbesa community.”
Dr. Oluseye maintained that Senator Adeola’s developmental interventions extended beyond OGITECH and Igbesa, adding that various communities across Ogun State, particularly in Ogun West, had benefited from his initiatives.
He further noted that the senator’s achievements during his more than three years representing Ogun West at the National Assembly included the construction of schools, markets, and hospitals, as well as empowerment programmes targeting youths, traders, women, and vulnerable members of society.
While acknowledging that previous senators had also made their contributions, the Rector argued that the scale of interventions attributed to Senator Adeola, particularly in community development and economic empowerment, stood out in his assessment.
Dr. Oluseye also commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his support for Senator Adeola and his political journey in Ogun State.
He acknowledged the governor’s role in welcoming the senator to Ogun State and supporting his emergence as the representative of Ogun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
The Rector further praised Governor Abiodun, alongside former governors and other stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, for their contributions to the process that culminated in Senator Adeola’s emergence as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
According to Dr. Oluseye, the development would remain a significant chapter in the political history of Ogun West, Ogun State, and Nigeria.
He offered prayers for Governor Abiodun and other stakeholders, wishing them success in achieving their future aspirations.
Appreciating LOYAMP members for their support and engagement with Senator Adeola since their meeting with him in Lagos in 2025, Dr. Oluseye urged the association not to become discouraged but to continue its professional activities through its various media platforms.
He said the senator was aware of the contributions being made by individuals and groups towards his political journey.
The Rector urged the association to intensify public enlightenment on the issues surrounding Ogun West’s longstanding aspiration to produce a governor while highlighting the senator’s record of representation and developmental initiatives.
He also urged members to deploy their journalistic experience to inform the public about Senator Adeola’s activities and the arguments advanced by his supporters in favour of his governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 election.
Responding to a question about negative narratives directed at Senator Adeola, Dr. Oluseye expressed the view that responding to every criticism could inadvertently give greater publicity to the claims being circulated.
He argued that not every negative narrative required a response, maintaining that political participation often attracted criticism and competing interpretations.
The Rector expressed confidence in Senator Adeola’s political prospects in the 2027 governorship election, predicting that the senator would emerge victorious at the polls.
He also appealed to the people of Ogun West and Ogun State generally to carefully assess political promises and the records of those seeking their support.
Dr. Oluseye expressed concern over what he described as the prolonged political marginalisation of Ogun West, noting that the district had yet to produce a governor since the creation of Ogun State in 1976.
He argued that considerations of equity and justice should inform the debate over the district’s longstanding aspiration to produce the next governor.
According to him, Senator Adeola’s political experience and record of public service were among the reasons his supporters considered him suitable for the position.
He also offered LOYAMP an opportunity to partner with OGITECH by using its various media platforms to publicise the institution’s programmes, activities, and achievements.
Earlier in his address, the Convener and National President of LOYAMP, Elhadj (Otunba) Abu-Satar Idowu Hamed, thanked Dr. Oluseye and members of the institution’s management team for receiving the delegation.
Hamed commended the Rector for what he described as his diligent, selfless, and commendable contributions to the development of education and human capacity in Ogun State.
He said the association was proud of the progress recorded by OGITECH under Dr. Oluseye’s leadership and wished him continued success in public service.
“Permit me to use this opportunity to express our profound delight and appreciation for the diligent, selfless, and commendable manner in which the Rector has been discharging his responsibilities and contributing to the development of education and human capacity in Ogun State through his office.
“We are indeed very proud of you and the achievements recorded by OGITECH since you assumed office as Rector.
“We wish you many more years of fruitful service to the people of Ogun State and Nigeria at large. May the Almighty God continue to grant you wisdom, strength, sound health, and the capacity to continue rendering meaningful service to humanity”, he said.
Hamed explained that the League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners was an association of veteran journalists, media professionals, publishers, and editors-in-chief who had continued to use their respective platforms to advocate equity, justice, good governance, regional development, and Ogun West’s aspiration to produce a governor.
He disclosed that the association emerged through the collective initiative and determination of media professionals across the Yewa-Awori axis, with the objectives of promoting regional development, strengthening grassroots journalism, and encouraging community-oriented reporting.
Describing the organisation’s status, Hamed said: “LOYAMP is an entirely independent and sovereign professional association established by media practitioners to advance the interests of our region and the journalism profession.
“We believe that the media landscape in Ogun West deserved broader representation. The expansive socio-economic, cultural, and geographical diversity of Ogun West Senatorial District required wider grassroots engagement and more decentralised media representation.
“This reality, among other considerations, informed the establishment of LOYAMP in 2014.”
He explained that, within the framework of the Nigerian Constitution and the principles of responsible journalism, the association was established to bridge the representation gap for indigenous media professionals in the region.
He added that LOYAMP sought to inform, educate, and entertain the public while promoting the development of communities across Yewa-Awori and beyond.
According to Hamed, the association’s membership comprised experienced media practitioners whose professional activities contributed to public information, community development, responsible journalism, and democratic engagement.
Recounting the association’s longstanding consultations on the Yewa Agenda, Hamed disclosed that LOYAMP’s engagement with political and community leaders dated back several years.
He recalled that members of the group visited former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, in 2014 as part of their consultations on Ogun West’s aspiration to produce a governor.
According to him, the former president graciously received the delegation during the visit.
Hamed further recalled that former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), arrived on a courtesy visit to Obasanjo while the LOYAMP delegation was still with the former president.
He said Obasanjo formally introduced the delegation to General Abubakar, after which they exchanged pleasantries and took a group photograph.
The LOYAMP president also disclosed that the association had consulted former Ogun State governor and current senator, Otunba Gbenga Daniel; former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi; Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, popularly known as GNI; former APM governorship candidate, Hon. Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade, popularly known as Triple A; and other prominent stakeholders in the region.
He said the engagements provided opportunities to discuss the Yewa Agenda and Ogun West’s longstanding aspiration to produce a governor.
Beyond those meetings, Hamed explained that the association had extended its consultations and advocacy to several other stakeholders within and outside Ogun West.
He maintained that LOYAMP had remained committed to pursuing the regional agenda through consultations, advocacy, and constructive engagement with respected leaders, institutions, and stakeholders across Ogun State and beyond.
Explaining the association’s decision to support Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, Hamed said the endorsement was informed by the group’s assessment of the senator’s developmental initiatives and people-oriented programmes across Ogun West and other parts of the state.
He noted that LOYAMP believed governance should be measured by its capacity to improve people’s quality of life, promote development, and create opportunities for citizens.
“Our decision to support Senator Adeola Yayi was based on our conviction that the essence of governance is to improve the quality of life of the people, promote development, and create opportunities for citizens to thrive, and that was what Senator Adeola has demonstrated through his developmental initiatives across Ogun West and beyond”, he said.
Hamed recalled that when Senator Adeola returned from representing Lagos West in the Senate to represent his ancestral home in Ogun West, the association saw in him a leader whom his supporters believed could advance the development and well-being of the people.
He said the senator had, within a relatively short period, attracted attention through various infrastructural projects and empowerment programmes that, according to the association, had benefited residents across Ogun West, and beyond.
Hamed added that the senator’s interventions had extended to different segments of society, including elderly people, youths, women, students, artisans, and other vulnerable groups.
He maintained that these initiatives had contributed to the senator’s acceptance among sections of the population in the senatorial district and beyond.
“For us at LOYAMP, Senator Adeola Yayi’s record of infrastructural development, human-capital investment, and people-oriented empowerment programmes speaks louder than political propaganda”, Hamed stated.
He explained that the association’s support was linked to its longstanding objective of advancing the Yewa Agenda and addressing Ogun West’s aspiration to produce a governor more than five decades after the creation of the state.
Hamed reaffirmed LOYAMP’s position, saying the association had resolved to support Senator Adeola in his quest for the Ogun State governorship in 2027.
He added that members had continued to use their various media platforms to report on the senator’s activities and highlight the arguments advanced by his supporters in pursuit of his governorship ambition.
Speaking on the association’s commitment, Hamed said LOYAMP would continue to uphold the principles of fairness, equity, justice, responsible journalism, and the advancement of the Yewa-Awori people throughout the electoral process.
He expressed the hope that the senator would, by the grace of God, become governor and pledged that the association would continue to engage with issues relating to the development of Ogun West, Ogun State, and Nigeria as a whole.
The LOYAMP president also used the occasion to appreciate Dr. Oluseye for his support for Senator Adeola from the early stages of the senator’s political engagement in Ogun West through his emergence as the APC’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
Hamed equally acknowledged the encouragement and support the Rector had extended to LOYAMP over the years, stressing that the association did not take the gesture for granted.
He prayed for God’s continued guidance, protection, and strength for Dr. Oluseye, as well as wisdom, good health, and greater accomplishments in his personal and professional life.
The LOYAMP president also extended the association’s prayers to the Rector’s family and the entire OGITECH community.
Reaffirming the association’s professional responsibilities, Hamed stated that LOYAMP remained operational and committed to ethical journalism, professional excellence, and constructive engagement with public and private institutions.
He said the association would continue to represent the interests of its members, promote credible news coverage, encourage responsible journalism, and support developmental initiatives across the Yewa-Awori axis and beyond.
Hamed expressed the delegation’s gratitude to Dr. Oluseye and the OGITECH management team for receiving the group and extending warm hospitality to its members during the courtesy visit.
