The Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ambassador (Hon.) Ogunsola Adesina Lanre, has commended the initiatives of the Urban Communities Transformation and Empowerment Network (UCTEN), describing its community-focused activities as worthy of support and greater collaboration.

The Chairman made the remarks when a five-man delegation of UCTEN, led by its President, Dr. Hafiz Bello, paid a courtesy visit to the Obafemi Owode Local Government leadership.

Ambassador Ogunsola Adesina Lanre encouraged UCTEN to strengthen its impact by collaborating with other non-governmental organisations and community-based organisations with similar objectives. He noted that partnerships among organisations working towards common development goals could help extend the reach and effectiveness of interventions across communities.

In his remarks, the President of UCTEN, Dr. Hafiz Bello, commended the Executive Chairman for his visible efforts towards grassroots development in Obafemi Owode Local Government. He particularly acknowledged the Chairman’s attention to initiatives targeted at youth development and community advancement, noting that such interventions were important to building stronger and more productive communities.

Dr. Bello also expressed UCTEN’s readiness to engage with relevant stakeholders and institutions in advancing programmes that promote human capital development, social inclusion, community empowerment and support for vulnerable members of society.

The Treasurer of UCTEN, Mr. Adeyinka Adesina, appreciated the Chairman for receiving the delegation and providing an opportunity for the organisation to formally introduce its activities and objectives to the local government leadership.

Mr. Adesina further solicited the support of the Obafemi Owode Local Government for UCTEN’s forthcoming programmes, particularly its Back-to-School Project and Cancer Awareness Project, both scheduled to take place before the end of the year.

He explained that the organisation’s forthcoming initiatives are part of its broader commitment to addressing social and community-development needs and creating opportunities for vulnerable groups, young people and members of underserved communities.

The UCTEN delegation also used the occasion to brief the Chairman on some of the organisation’s previous community interventions and its broader vision of promoting sustainable community transformation through partnerships, empowerment and social development.

Responding to the presentation, the Chairman reiterated the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable development at the grassroots and encouraged UCTEN to continue building strategic partnerships with organisations, institutions and relevant stakeholders.

The meeting ended on a positive note, with both parties expressing their commitment to exploring areas of collaboration that could contribute to the socio-economic development and well-being of communities within Obafemi Owode Local Government and Ogun State.

The UCTEN delegation comprised the President, Dr. Hafiz Bello; Vice President, Mr. Azeez Abati; Secretary, Mr. Kunle Bangbose; Treasurer, Mr. Adeyinka Adesina; and Welfare Officer, Mr. Adewole Lumous.
