The Northern Youth Association of Nigeria (NYAN) has passed a vote of confidence on the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, for what it described as his outstanding performance, transformative leadership, and commitment to Nigeria’s infrastructure development.

In a statement signed by its national president, Comrade Godiya T. Adams, the association said Umahi has demonstrated exceptional professionalism, competence, and visionary leadership since assuming office, repositioning the nation’s road and infrastructure sector in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

According to the statement, the minister’s tenure has been characterised by transparency, efficiency, and a results-oriented approach, leading to significant progress on several strategic road projects across the country.

NYAN cited the rehabilitation and expansion of major federal highways, including the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the access roads to the Second Niger Bridge, and ongoing interventions on the East-West road, as evidence of his achievements.

The association said the projects have improved connectivity, facilitated economic activities, enhanced security, and eased the movement of people, goods, and services nationwide.

It also commended Umahi for introducing innovative construction methods, particularly the use of reinforced concrete pavement technology on selected highways, noting that the initiative would enhance the durability of roads and deliver better value for public funds.

The group further praised the minister’s commitment to quality assurance, contractor accountability, and strict adherence to project timelines, saying these measures have restored public confidence in government infrastructure delivery.

According to the association, Umahi’s strategy of prioritising economically important road corridors and strengthening regional connectivity has contributed to national integration and inclusive economic growth, with northern Nigeria benefiting from renewed attention to critical road networks that support trade, agriculture, and transportation.

NYAN also lauded the minister’s engagement with stakeholders, transparency in project implementation, and zero tolerance for substandard construction, describing his leadership as disciplined, innovative, and patriotic.

The association maintained that Umahi ranks among the best-performing ministers in the current administration and one of the most accomplished Works Ministers in Nigeria’s history.

It called on Nigerians to support the minister in sustaining the momentum of ongoing infrastructure development and urged the federal government to continue providing the necessary resources to strengthen the country’s road network.

The association reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and commended the administration for appointing Umahi to oversee the nation’s works sector.
