… alleges plot to forge ADC documents, warns of legal action

The Omarana Campaign Organisation has raised an alarm over an alleged plot by “disgruntled elements” within the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to forge party documents in Adamawa State in a bid to challenge the candidacy of its governorship flagbearer, Amb. Engr. Omar Suleiman.

In a press statement issued in Yola, the campaign said it had received “credible intelligence” that some individuals are attempting to manipulate party records at the ADC Secretariat and are allegedly mobilizing party agents and election officials to append signatures to documents they intend to use in legal proceedings.

The campaign organisation said the alleged scheme involves efforts to “manufacture, alter or forge party documents” to create a false narrative around the ADC governorship ticket in Adamawa.

“We consider these allegations extremely serious,” the statement read.
“We are aware of the activities reportedly taking place around these individuals, and we are carefully documenting relevant information available to us.”

The campaign further alleged that some of those involved are “accommodated at a hotel within the Area 1, Garki axis of Abuja.”

“Let it be known that political intrigues carried out in secrecy do not necessarily remain secret. The dark activities being planned and executed will, in due course, come to light,” it warned.

The Omarana Campaign cautioned party officials, agents and election officials against lending their names or signatures to “questionable documents.”

“Anyone who knowingly participates in the falsification of documents, presentation of false evidence, forgery, alteration of official records or the making of false statements under oath may expose himself or herself to serious legal consequences under applicable Nigerian laws,” it stated.

“No political ambition is worth sacrificing one’s liberty, reputation and future,” the statement added, alleging that those who sponsor such schemes “often disappear when the consequences arrive.”

The campaign said the alleged plot was an attempt to create confusion around the ADC ticket, but insisted it would not derail its focus.

“Our mandate is bigger than internal political manoeuvring. Omar Suleiman’s candidacy represents a commitment to building an Adamawa where government works, institutions work, young people have opportunities,” the campaign said.

It described the “Omarana Agenda” as centered on competence, development, accountability, inclusion and “an Adamawa That Works.”

The organisation urged supporters to “remain calm, disciplined and law-abiding” and said disputes should be resolved through “lawful and constitutional channels” rather than violence or intimidation.

The statement called on ADC stakeholders to protect the party’s credibility and not allow it to become “another victim of the politics of desperation, manipulation and do-or-die ambition.”

“A political party that seeks to present itself as an alternative must demonstrate integrity not merely in its speeches, but in its conduct,” it said.

The campaign also called on relevant authorities to take seriously any credible information concerning attempts to falsify political documents.

“Our destination is not the courtroom for manufactured controversies. Our destination is the people,” the statement concluded.
“Omarana is coming. For Today. For Tomorrow. Towards an Adamawa That Works.”

Efforts to get reactions from the ADC State Secretariat and other parties mentioned were ongoing at press time.
