Kano State House of Assembly says reports alleging an ongoing impeachment plot against Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo are not true, describing such claims as unfounded and misleading.
Speaker of the House, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, who spoke with newsmen in Kano, said there is no discussion, motion or initiative within the Assembly on the alleged plans to impeach the deputy governor.

He emphasised that the reports circulating in some sections of the media were inaccurate and capable of creating unnecessary political tension in the state.
“There is absolutely no basis for these claims. The House has not initiated, nor is it considering, any impeachment process against the deputy governor. The reports are false and should be disregarded by the public,” Shawai said.
The Speaker noted that the deputy governor continues to carry out his responsibilities with the confidence and support of the legislature, contrary to the speculation being circulated.
He advised media organisations and the public to exercise caution and verify information before dissemination, noting that responsible reporting plays a critical role in preserving political stability and public trust.
He said the Assembly remains focused on its constitutional responsibilities, including lawmaking and oversight, rather than engaging in speculative political narratives.
“Our priority is good governance and effective service delivery to the people of Kano State. We are not distracted by rumours or unsubstantiated claims,” he said.
The Deputy Governor has yet to make any publicly statement on the reports.
But it was learnt that Gwarzo remains fully engaged and focused on his official duties.
