Governors on the platform of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party have expressed confidence that Nigerians will reject the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2027 polls.
The PDP Governors said this in a statement issued after their meeting in Gusau, Zamfara State, on Saturday.
They accused the APC of inflicting suffering on citizens through poor governance and divisive policies.
They said the PDP remains a stronger option for the country, despite the wave of defections that hit the party in recent months.
The statement revealed that discussions at the meeting centred on national issues such as insecurity, the decline of democratic practices, and preparations for the party’s forthcoming national convention.
They commended PDP supporters for standing firm in the face of what they described as intimidation and irregularities during recent by-elections.
The Governors also alleged that the polls were heavily militarised and marred by vote buying and violence.
The PDP Governors also urged members to resist attempts to derail the process of the forthcoming national convention of the party.
They said the PDP remains the most reliable platform for restoring good governance and rebuilding the nation.
On security matters, the Governors further condemned ongoing killings in Katsina, Plateau, Niger, Benue and other states.
They reminded the Tinubu-led administration of the security situation, calling on him to act swiftly to protect lives and property.
The PDP Governors who attended the meeting included Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, and Ademola Adeleke of Osun.
