A Nigerian youth advocate publicly announced the launch of an organised youth mobilisation campaign to support the continued service of Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Okeyomi Oluwadamilola Vicent published an open letter detailing the initiative, citing the minister’s record in the Federal Ministry of Interior. Peak Newspaper reports that Vicent initiated the campaign in response to the minister’s handling of passport backlogs and correctional facility reforms under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Vicent stated the campaign aims to promote awareness of the minister’s achievements and build networks of young citizens. “Today, I publicly declare that I am commencing organised youth mobilisation in support of your continued service, vision, and leadership,” Vicent said. “This is not mere flattery; it is a considered response to a verifiable record of competence, compassion, and results.”
The open letter highlighted the clearance of approximately 204,000 passport applications within the minister’s first weeks in office. Vicent also noted private-sector partnerships that settled fines and compensations for more than 4,000 inmates incarcerated for petty offences across facilities managed by the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Prior to his appointment in August 2023, Tunji-Ojo served two terms in the House of Representatives representing the Akoko North East/Akoko North West Federal Constituency. The letter detailed his previous experience as the chief executive officer of Matrix IT Solutions Limited and his postgraduate education at London Metropolitan University in 2006.
