The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Nigeria, Mr. Michel Deelen, has commended the new Management of the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Zoo Park under the leadership of Pro Olufemi Sam-Wobo.
Delen gave his commendation during his recent official visit and tour of the FUNAAB Zoo Park in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
During his tour in company with some members of the Zoo’s Management led by its Director, Prof Olufemi Sam-Wobo, the elated Netherlands Ambassador was able to see some of the animals in their natural habitat.
Some of the animals the envoy saw include Primates such as baboons, patas monkeys, white putty nosed monkeys, the African rock python and several others.
Impressed by what he saw during his tour of the FUNAAB Zoo Park, the Netherlands Ambassador said, “It’s a beautiful zoo and I am very impressed to see the animals and that they also reproduce very well here. I like the fact that they are well taken care of. I don’t expect to see a zoo here.”
When asked how his visit l would impact the University community in general and the Zoo park in particular, he said, “I will make more publicity for your University and the Zoo Park, and will tell my friends that when they visit Abeokuta, they should not only think about the rock, they should come visit the campus of the University and its beautiful zoo.”
