Popular activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju has charged Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo to hand over his predecessor, Yahaya Bello to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for prosecution.
Adeyanju while making the call, described Ododo as an impunity-loving Governor.
Adeyanju wrote in a post on Facebook, “Ododo, the impunity-loving governor of Kogi State should hand over Yahaya Bello to the EFCC to face trial for all his corrupt acts.”
Bello has been on the run since EFCC initiated a fraud case with N80.2 billion while he was still governor of Kogi State.
The former governor went into hiding after operatives of the anti-graft agency attempted to arrest him from his residence in Abuja.
During the raid by EFCC, Ododo stormed Bello’s residence and whisked him out of the house.
Following inability to arrest him, EFCC had placed him on the wanted list.
Amid the saga with the EFCC, Bello had prayed an Abuja Federal High Court to transfer his case to Kogi State for trial.
But Justice John Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court dismissed Bello’s application seeking to transfer his case to Kogi State.
Justice Tsoho upheld EFCC’s argument that the case should remain in Abuja.
Meanwhile, there have been reports that Ododo has been harbouring Bello at the Kogi State Government House in Lokoja.
