A member of the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Rilwanu Marafa has raised the alarm that bandits have besieged Anka Local Government Area, attacking communities on a daily basis.
Speaking with journalists, Marafa lamented that the majority of the towns and Villages in the local government have been flooded by bandits walking freely with sophisticated weapons.
The lawmaker said the presence of the bandits posed a serious threat to the peace, security and harmony of the area, as the development has halted farming and other business activities.
“Majority of the political wards such Wuya, Yarzabaya, Bayar Zaki and others, even the headquarters of the local government, Anka is not safe as bandits launched attacked and rustled cattle and kidnapped people”, he added.
He decried the activities of bandits in the area, saying it should be a matter of serious concern to all and sundry, as nobody was safe.
Marafa therefore, appealed to the Federal Government to come to the support of the people in the area and the state as a whole, to solve the problem of banditry in the state.
He regretted that the bandits have stopped local people from accessing their farm lands to work.
“It is worth noting that, the bandits have barred local farmers from accessing their farm lands, for harvest”, he added.
The lawmaker stated that the act of banditry has subjected people of the area to serious hardship, poverty and hunger as both farming and business activities are being seriously threatened.
