Police in Anambra have arrested a suspect who was named in the burning of a 74-year-old woman in Abagana, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Earlier, four persons had been arrested for their involvement in the matter, but Obinna Anene, who was named as the prime suspect, initially escaped.
It had been earlier gathered that the incident was linked to ritual killing, between the suspect and another lady.
State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the arrest of the suspect in a press release.
The statement read, “Obinna Anene ‘m’ aged 33yrs of Amene Village, Abagana, who was mentioned as the principal suspect in the case of burning and killing of a 74-year-old woman, Alice Anene, at Abagana on 27/01/2025, has been arrested.
“He is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide SCID Section Awka for a debrief. Further details shall be communicated.”
