A 23-year-old man, Abdulazeez Abubakar, has allegedly stabbed his 20-year-old friend, Sadiq Sani, to death following an argument over sachet water, popularly called ‘pure water.’

The suspect has already been arrested by the police.
Both the suspect and the deceased person were childhood friends and residents along Adamawa road in Dutsen-Kura-Hausa Area of Minna, the Niger State capital.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the disagreement began over sachet water, popularly known as pure water, intended for ablution during preparations for the Maghrib prayer.
One of the residents told our correspondent that what initially appeared to be a minor misunderstanding escalated into a violent confrontation.
During the altercation, the suspect allegedly drew a sharp object and stabbed the victim, causing severe injuries.
Despite desperate efforts to save his life, the victim succumbed to his wounds.
Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident, saying the suspect had already been arrested and was under investigation.
Abiodun said, “On 17/12/2025 at about 7.40pm, report indicated that there was a fight at Dutsen-Kura between one Abdulazeez Abubakar, 23yrs, and Sadiq Sani, 20yrs, both of Dutsen-Kura Minna, which led to the death of Sani.
“Police operatives of GRA Division rushed to the scene, and arrested Abubakar. The incident is under investigation and the suspect will soon be transferred to the SCID, Minna for further necessary action.”
