…as police arrest twin brothers for killing woman for ritual
The Ogun State Police Command has paraded a 27-year old man, Afeez Ayeteru, for allegedly beheading an 80-year old woman, identified as Aduke, in the Ado-Odo/Ota area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, disclosed this while parading Ayeteru and 24 other suspects in Abeokuta, the state capital.
He explained that the police acted on a distress call from a neighbour of the elderly woman, arriving at the scene just in time to apprehend the suspect as he tried to escape.
Also paraded were Taiwo and Kehinde Yemitan, 45-year old twin brothers accused of killing a woman identified as Darasimi and mutilating her body for ritual purposes.
Ogunlowo revealed that the crime occurred in the Lafenwa area of Abeokuta and said the suspects had confessed during interrogation.
The police commissioner assured the public that all the suspects would face prosecution once investigations were completed.
He noted that the arrests, which were made in the last three weeks, were for various crimes, including murder, kidnapping, and cultism.
Ogunlowo appealed to residents to remain vigilant and continue providing actionable intelligence to the police.
He warned criminals in the state of the force’s resolve to eradicate crime.
“We will not hesitate to take action against those who refuse to comply,” he stated.
While addressing journalists, Taiwo Yemitan admitted to the crime, revealing that the victim was his friend.
He also confessed it was his first time committing murder, although he had previously sold human parts obtained by others involved in organ harvesting.
