Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso, has hailed his team for their teamwork spirit and unity after their LaLiga 2-1 win against Real Sociedad on Saturday.
Alonso also gave his verdict on Dean Huijsen’s red card against Sociedad at Reale Arena.
Alonso watched as two goals from Kylian Mbappe and Arda Güler gave the Los Blancos all three points against the hosts as Huijsen got a red card during the match.
Speaking at his post-match interview, Alonso insisted that the red card that Huijsen got was supposed to be a yellow card.
Alonso said (via Madrid Zone): “Our teamwork spirit and how we united after the red card was really impressive.
“It was a yellow for Dean. Not a red. I spoke to the referee after the game. He gave me his interpretation, but it wasn’t convincing.
“The red card really changed the trajectory of the game. When there are obvious mistakes, like today, I think VAR should be used.”
Real Madrid will now face Marseille in the Champions League in their next game on Tuesday.
