Barcelona star Gavi has claimed that Real Madrid are ‘worried’ after losing four El Clasico matches to the Catalans last season.
Gavi further suggested that Los Blancos are anxious to restore their glory heading into the new season.
La Blaugrana completely dominated La Liga last season under Hansi Flick, claiming La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa de España titles.
In four El Clasico matches last season, the Catalans were victorious.
Barcelona beat Real Madrid 4-0 in October and followed that up with a 5-2 win in the Supercopa final in January.
Their third victory was a 3-2 win in the cup final, and the fourth one came in the final clash of the season, winning 4-3 in Catalunya.
Madrid have been in the market to upgrade the squad for Xabi Alonso. They have signed the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, Franco Mastantuono, and Álvaro Carreras.
Speaking to Diario AS, Gavi claimed that Los Blancos’ spending in the transfer market indicates that they are worried about the outcome of last season.
“Of course they were worried. It was four out of four, and that’s never happened before. And it’s understandable that they’re worried,” he said.
“They didn’t win anything.”
Real Madrid and Barcelona will lock horns for the first time next season in October at the Santiago Bernabéu.
