The administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Governor of Kwara State, sometime ago established the Sugar Factory Films Studios to develop the creative potentials of Kwara youths and it’s now yielding positive results.

In furtherance to the realization of this, the Sugar Factory Films Studios embarked on a three-day free training programme to test run and showcase its capacity to develop and generate income for the state through the ACADEMY AND FILM MAKING.

The ACADEMY OF THE FILM STUDIOS, Sugar Factory Films Studios, commenced the training session on the 18th September and ended on 20th turning out its first set of 31 graduates taken through essential courses in film making, script writing, production (MANAGEMENT, ACTING, MAKE UP, EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT, CINEMATOGRAPHY, CONTENT CREATION, COSTUME) and other courses which youths can specialize in and make a bright future.

Speaking through zoom, the Managing Director, Gbenga Titiloye, who is presently on an official visit to Canada, said he has succeeded in securing affiliation with three prominent Canadian institutions to strengthen the credibility of certificates awarded by the school.

He assured that the various young participants whose choice is films making have taken a wise decision and right path because the industry is not just viable but a veritable means of making personal income and also increase state’s internally generated revenue.

Various facilitators who presented their lectures based on their areas of specialization and competence include Grace Babasola, CHIRMEKA OSA, Dr Tayo Adenuga, Oba Adeolu Adenuga, Niyi Raphael, JOHN ADEWARA, ANNABEL EDO, DEMOLA YUSUF, SAMASON K OLARUNDE),Tunde Ayinla and a host of several others.

The thought-provoking lectures were presented under very secure and conducive environment for learning and discipline while participants who came from diverse organizations like the UNDP, (EVC), listened to lectures with rapt attention.

Despite the short timing, the lecturers delivered adequate enlightening training that won the heart of participants.
Speaking on the reason for this training programme, (ONE OF ) the conveners of the training programme, Oba Adeolu Adenuga explained that the Sugar Factory Film studio is metamorphosing into an academy and that he saw the need to contribute his own quota in fulfilling the dreams of the academy.

He espoused the money making venture which the multimillion naira film industry is in Nigeria, adding that the training is testing waters of the potentials it has in the industry.

THE General Manager of the Academy, Grace Babasola, who is also one of the conveners and brain behind the free training, said that the programme was a deliberate plan to test run the training potentials of the sugar factory films academy and let the film making world become aware that the academy exists (and the studios, which is actually one of the biggest studios in west africa).

Participants were later conducted round the state-of-the-art facilities available in the studios ranging from police station, hospital; facility, sitting rooms and other aspects necessary for a standard studio.

Participants at the training programme expressed delight at the training session, which they said has also helped to boost and showcase their talent in acting, mimicking and singing.

“It is an eye opener for me, I am impressed by this training programme. The training has changed my perception about the film making industry and some concepts.”

At the end of the three-day event, certificates were presented to sponsors, facilitators and participants cutting across the various axis of the state and neighbouring states.

The Sugar factory Academy, a subsidiary of the Sugar Factory Films studios, baby of Kwara State Government, no doubt has come to stay as a viable training opportunity for the teeming youths whose ambition it is to make a future living through film making.
