‘Korope Yayi’: Senator Adeola’s scholarship board debunks Ogun campus rumours, says no buses diverted

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) Scholarship and Bursary Award Board has strongly debunked rumours surrounding the donation of mini-buses to tertiary institutions in Ogun State, labelling the allegations as malicious lies.

A member of the Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) Scholarship and Bursary Award Board, Olumide Abiodun, made this clarification in an official press release to counter claims that the vehicles were either never delivered or diverted by their handlers.

According to the statement, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Adeola, popularly called Yayi,
donated five mini-buses, popularly known as “Korope Yayi,” to every tertiary institution across the state last year.

This philanthropic gesture was aimed at easing the daily transportation challenges faced by students and to support their general welfare.

Abiodun stated that the vehicles were given entirely free of charge, as they were officially presented and handed over to the authorities of the beneficiary institutions at various locations during a massive empowerment programme organised for the Ogun West Senatorial District.

Describing the embezzlement and non-delivery rumours as a calculated smear campaign, Abiodun expressed disappointment at the actions of some “mischievous elements” looking to mislead the public.

The statement partly read, “The claim that the buses were not delivered as announced or were diverted by handlers is not only mischievous but a blatant falsehood.

“It further exposes the ignorance and malicious intent of the authors. This is a deliberate and calculated attempt to mislead unsuspecting members of the public by individuals whose stock-in-trade is to fabricate lies against the Senator.”

To provide undeniable proof of the delivery, the scholarship board attached several photographs showing the mini-buses currently deployed and actively operational across the various campuses.

Abiodun noted that while falsehoods may spread quickly, the truth will always prevail.

The statement concluded by urging the general public to completely disregard the rumours, emphasising that they lack any iota of truth.

Furthermore, Abiodun reaffirmed that Senator Adeola remains deeply resolute in his commitment to advancing education and student welfare within Ogun State, declaring that the lawmaker will not be distracted by the antics of political detractors.
