A suspected kidnapper has been shot dead at Army Post Service Housing Estate, Kurudu, Abuja Municipal Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
The suspect was part of a seven-man gang that invaded the Estate around 8:47pm on Thursday.
The kidnappers, it was gathered, upon gaining entry into the estate, began to shoot sporadically.
This was said to have attracted the attention of the military at the entrance gate who also responded immediately.
It was also learnt that the soldiers and operatives of the Kurudu police division engaged the kidnappers in a shootout, resulting in the death of one of them.
The military and the police reportedly successfully foiled the abduction of a business tycoon who resides in the estate.
The corpse of the deceased suspected kidnapper was taken away by the police.
FCT Police Command Spokesperson, SP Adeh Josephine, has confirmed the incident.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
