Ijebu Imushin, the commercial heartbeat of Ijebu East Local Government Area, was in Friday thrown into excitement and jubilation as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ijebu East Chapter, officially kicked off its 2027 electioneering campaign ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
The ancient town was agog as thousands of party faithful, leaders, women groups and youths stormed the streets in a carnival-like procession, chanting solidarity songs and displaying the PDP flag with pride and enthusiasm.

The historic kick-off was graced by the top hierarchy of the party in Ogun East Senatorial District led by a former Chairman of the local government, who is also the PDP Ogun East Senatorial Chairman, Engr. Ayinde Awobadejo, who commended the Ijebu East Chapter for the massive, peaceful and orderly mobilisation, describing it as a clear signal of PDP’s readiness to reclaim Ogun East. He charged all members to remain united and focused for total victory in 2027.

Activities for the day commenced at the Ijebu Imushin Market. Business activities were brought to a standstill as traders, market women led by their Iyalojas, artisans and residents trooped out en masse to receive the PDP campaign train. The party leadership, led by the Ijebu East LGA Chairman, Hon. Juwon Lawal, interacted with the market community and assured them of purposeful and people-oriented governance under the PDP.
From the market, the train proceeded to the Ijebu Imushin Central Mosque where the party members observed the Jumat Service. The Chief Imam along with the Muslim Ummah offered special prayers for peace, unity, progress and for a violence-free electioneering period in Ijebu East, Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
Present at the rally were the party’s flag bearers for the 2027 general elections, namely; Engr. Omotayo Olufemi Abdul-Hammed (Omoowo), PDP Senatorial Candidate for Ogun East Senatorial District; Rt. Hon. Adekoya Adesegun Abdel-Majid (Attacker), PDP Candidate for House of Representatives, Ijebu North / Ijebu East / Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency; and Engr. Adeboye Peter Badejo, PDP Candidate for House of Assembly, Ijebu East State Constituency.
In their separate remarks, the candidates expressed profound gratitude to the people of Imushin for the rousing reception. Engr. Omoowo assured the people of effective representation and facilitation of federal projects, while Rt. Hon. Attacker, a former Deputy Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, promised to consolidate on his track record in infrastructure and education support. On his part, Engr. Badejo promised a vibrant representation at the Ogun State House of Assembly with focus on job creation and rural development.
In his vote of thanks, Hon. Juwon Lawal said the PDP is fully back, united and stronger than ever, adding that the massive turnout is a referendum that the people are yearning for the return of the PDP. He thanked the Nigeria Police Force, Ijebu Imushin Division, DSS and other security agencies for their professional coverage.

He added that the campaign train will move to all 11 wards in Ijebu East Local Government in the coming days.
