As Nigeria inches closer to another watershed electoral cycle, a profound question continues to reverberate across the nation: Can the 2027 General Election redirect the nation’s destiny, or is Nigeria running out of opportunities to reinvent itself?

It is against this backdrop that Boiling Point Arena, Nigeria’s foremost hybrid public affairs discourse platform, is convening another compelling national conversation bringing together distinguished intellectuals and public affairs experts to interrogate one of the most consequential issues confronting Africa’s largest democracy.

The thought-provoking discourse slated for Sunday 9th August, 2026, is themed: “2027 and Beyond: Is This Nigeria’s Final Window for National Redemption?”

A Panel of distinguished minds have been lined up to lead the conversation comprising Erelu Tunwase Lola Ayonrinde, a cultural Icon, who made history as a former Mayor of the London Borough of Wandsworth, United Kingdom.

Joining her is Dr. Festus Adedayo, one of Nigeria’s most respected newspaper columnists, public affairs analyst and communication scholar widely admired for his incisive political commentaries and fearless analysis of governance issues.

The once-in-a-month current affairs programme is hosted by a seasoned media professional and communication strategy expert, Dr Ayo Arowojolu.

To be transmitted via Zoom, the discourse over a two-hour duration starting from 8pm, will be broadcast live on seven partner radio station across Lagos, Ogun and Delta States.

Frontline traditional ruler, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola is the Chairman and Keynote speaker to herald the discourse.

Across the country, conversations such as is being planned have become increasingly urgent as Inflation continues to squeeze households with other burning issues such as alarming youth unemployment, governance failure, security challenges and a fragile public confidence in political leadership.

Nigeria citizens are increasingly questioning whether democratic governance has delivered on its promises.

Against this backdrop, many analysts argue that 2027 must be more than another contest for political office. Rather, it must become a defining moment for rebuilding trust, strengthening institutions, promoting accountability and restoring hope in the Nigerian project.

Many observers believe the choices Nigerians make before, during and after the 2027 elections may significantly influence the nation’s political stability, economic trajectory and democratic future for decades to come.

These and many more difficult questions will dominate discussions at Boiling Point Arena.

Collectively, these accomplished discussants represent an exceptional blend of governance experience, electoral expertise, media scholarship and global perspective.

For Erelu Tunwase Ayonrinde, her unique experience in governance, public accountability and diaspora engagement is expected to provide valuable comparative insights into leadership, institutional development and democratic culture.

Dr. Adedayo, for his part, is expected to offer penetrating perspectives on Nigeria’s political evolution, leadership deficit, media responsibility and the growing expectations of citizens as the nation approaches another electoral cycle.

Having participated at the highest levels of Nigeria’s electoral reforms, Prof. Kuna brings invaluable insider knowledge of electoral administration, democratic consolidation and the institutional challenges that continue to shape Nigeria’s elections.

Among the partner radio stations are; WASH 94.9FM, Lagos, Sweet 107.1FM, Abeokuta, Roots 97.1FM, Abeokuta, Erimbe 94.7FM, Shagamu, Women Radio 91.7FM, Mowe, Opera Tune 106.3FM, Abeokuta, and Kruzz 92.9FM, Asaba, Delta State alongside a cable television station, NSTV, on GOtv Channel.
