From Tom Garba-Yola

In a heartwarming celebration of the International Day of Charity, themed “Spreading Generosity and Strengthening Community Support,” Her Excellency, Hajiya Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, First Lady of Adamawa State, brought hope and relief to 1,500 women, youths, and vulnerable individuals through a massive distribution of essential items across the state.

Partnering with the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum and her Fresh Air Pro-Life Empowerment Foundation, Hajiya Lami’s initiative underscored her unwavering commitment to uplifting the less privileged. The event, held in Yola, was a powerful testament to her belief in kindness as a tool to alleviate suffering and foster hope.

Representing the First Lady, Hon. Wunfe B. Anthony, Commissioner for Transport, delivered a stirring message, describing the intervention as more than just material aid but a profound symbol of love and solidarity. “Hajiya Lami carries the people of Adamawa in her heart,” he said, emphasizing her call for collective responsibility in acts of charity. “Even the smallest gesture of kindness can transform lives,” she urged.

Mrs. Hilda Makonto, mni, in her welcome address, lauded Hajiya Lami for setting an unparalleled standard of compassion, predicting her legacy would inspire future generations of First Ladies. Goodwill messages echoed this sentiment from not able to figures, including Mrs. Faith Balthiya Wesley, wife of the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly; Hajiya Huraira Hamid, wife of the Head of Service; Hajiya Rasheeda Suleiman, wife of the ALGON Chairman; and Hon. Sarah Nathan, Vice Chairperson of Yola North.

Beneficiaries, represented by Mallam Salihu Waziri and Mrs. Nina Joel Abraham, expressed deep gratitude, praying for divine blessings on Hajiya Lami for her tireless efforts to support women, youths, and orphans across Adamawa.

The event saw the presence of distinguished guests, including Hon. Neido G. Kofulto, Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development; wives of State House of Assembly members, LGA Chairmen, Commissioners, and Permanent Secretaries; as well as coordinators from Adamawa’s 21 LGAs and representatives from Christian and Muslim communities.

Hajiya Lami’s message resonated powerfully: “Charity is not about what we have, but what we are willing to share. Together, we can build a society where no one is left behind.” Her impactful outreach has once again demonstrated the transformative power of generosity, leaving an indelible mark on Adamawa State.
