In a bid to give back to the society, the Inner Wheel Club of Ogba, Ikeja Metro, and Oregun Metro in District 912, Nigeria has renovated Electrical Works and donated five (5) 20-Inch Industrial Wall Fans, Foodstuffs, medical screening and Mosquito Nets to the Transit Home & Orphanage, Idi-Araba, Lagos, for the upkeep of the children in the home.
The District Chairman, D912, Nigeria, Mrs Abiola Aberuagba, who commissioned the project on Tuesday in Lagos, said that the gesture aimed at improving welfare of the orphanage.
Aberuagba said the donation was part of the series of corporate social responsibility activities of the club across the society.
She appreciated the management team of the orphanage for the love and care being demonstrated in the home for the children, who for one reason or the other got lost, disconnected from the parents and were found wandering helplessly on the roads.
“In a bid to give back to society, the Inner Wheel Club of Ogba, Inner Wheel Club of Ikeja Metro and Inner Wheel Club of Oregun Metro have come to visit the Transit Home and donate some gift items to them.
“This gesture is what we do from time to time to the Home because Inner Wheel built two buildings here; one by Inner Wheel club of Lagos and the other by Inner Wheel club of Ogba.
“The idea is to ensure that this place is conducive and habitable for the children to live and be happy.
“To the management team of the Home, I urged them to increase their passion in taking care of the children, show them more love and make them feel they are with their real parents,” Aberuagba said.
The President, Inner Wheel Club of Ikeja Metro, Mrs Oluwafunke Lawson expressed excitement that the club had impacted positively on the lives of many people, saying that the club sometimes goes out on weekly or monthly basis just to impact and torch lives of some less privileged citizens in the society.
According to her, the Club is committed to giving back to the society to improve their quality of life and positively touch the lives.
“The club’s core mandate was basically to help the vulnerable and less privileged citizens in the society because Inner Wheel stands for Charity and humanitarian services,” Lawson said.
Contributing, the President, Inner Wheel Club of Ogba, Mrs Adeyemi Johnson said that the Home was built by Inner Wheel Club of Ogba in 1998, saying that the front block was built by Inner Wheel Club of Lagos, while the back block was built by Inner Wheel Club of Ogba.
Johnson explained that management of the Home has been taken over by the Lagos State Government, while the place has been changed to an ‘orphanage home’.
She said, “Being that we built the Home, so, we still come back to see what is going on here.
“Though, it is now under Lagos State Government, but we still come back to see how the place is run and extend our hands of giving to them and to others in the society”.
