As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary, the New Democratic Congress, NDC, senatorial candidate for Ogun Central, Honourable George Taylor, has urged Nigerians to continue praying for the country, expressing optimism that a better future is still possible.
George Taylor made the call in a statement released to commemorate this year’s Independence Anniversary.
He congratulated Nigerians on the occasion, while acknowledging the various challenges and difficulties the country has faced over the years.
According to him, despite the challenges confronting the nation, there is still hope for positive change, expressing confidence that the difficulties being experienced today will eventually give way to better days and renewed happiness.
With the 2027 general elections approaching, George Taylor urged Nigerians to use their votes wisely, calling on them to support Peter Obi, whom he identified as the NDC presidential candidate, in the forthcoming election.
He said that, at this critical period, he believes Peter Obi represents the leadership capable of helping Nigerians overcome the hardship and challenges which, according to him, have persisted under the All Progressives Congress, APC-led administration in recent years.
George Taylor also described Peter Obi as an experienced politician with the capacity to provide effective leadership and create greater opportunities for Nigerians.
He therefore appealed to Nigerians not to lose hope, maintaining that an NDC-led government would bring what he described as positive change and relief to the people.
The Ogun Central senatorial candidate equally appealed to constituents in the district to support his own candidacy, promising to represent their interests effectively if elected on the NDC platform.
He further urged Nigerians to vote according to their conscience in the forthcoming election, saying that many citizens have become dissatisfied with the APC administration both at the federal level and in Ogun State.
George Taylor promised that, if the NDC is given the mandate, his party would work towards improving the welfare and living conditions of the people.
He concluded by wishing Nigerians a peaceful and memorable 66th Independence Anniversary celebration.
