Tom Garba, Yola

A looming crisis between two contending families of Hosere Bembe, Namtari District of Yola South Local Government area of Adamawa State was averted yesterday.

The brewing crisis, it was said, could have consumed many communities over a fifty hectares of land under the care of two families, Jauro Bappa Buba and Alhaji Maijimila, who are farmers.

The crisis this year began at the commencement of the farming season, between the two families who had begun to beat drums of war after all possible ways to amicably resolve their differences failed.

But the newly sworn-in Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Community Peace and Security, Alhaji Ahmad Lawan waded into the matter alongside his colleagues, SSA on Agriculture, Manu Ngurore.

Lawan who visited the community and the land in contention, warned the warring families that Governor Fintiri would not allow this to escalate to any level.

He also warned them about their recalcitrant stance concerning the crisis.

According to him the administration of Governor Fintiri is after unity, peace and harmony, peaceful co-existence among many communities, without which there would not be any meaningful development.

“We are after peace and if anyone of you is not ready to resolve this amicably, the government has no option than to revoke the land tittle ownership of the land they fighting on for Peace to reign.” Lawan said

While at the palace of the District Head of Namtari for reconciliation, SSA on Agriculture, Alhaji Manu Ngorure, who is also from the community, said the respect and loyalty they have for the traditional stool must bring an end to the perennial war threatening to consume every member of the two extended families and beyond.

He stressed the need for the dispute to be resolved at this latent stage to avert the future outcome that may end in bloodshed and destruction of lives and properties.

“This is what we couldn’t resolve for years until now, it’s shameful we could not do this at our own level until the government of Fintiri intervene. This is commendable to Governor Fintiri. He is indeed a good leader who sees farther.” Manu said

District Head of Namtari, Alhaji Abba Isa Mustapha, divide the Field into two and gave each part of the fifty Hectares to the contending families to continue farming.

The lawyers of the two families who were also witnesses to the reconciliation process, were begged by Honorable Manu Ngurore, SSA to the Governor on Agriculture to file for the withdrawal of the case in court for the issue to be total resolved for life.

Barr M P Denki, lawyer to Jauro Bappa and Jauro Buba, was excited with the peaceful outcome of the reconciliation process that took place at the palace of Alhaji Abubakar Isa, the District Head of Namtari.

He however asked a question whether the land shared belongs to them for life or it’s for the purpose of farming.

But the District Head responded that the Emirate Council of Lamido Adamawa under the good leadership of HRH Dr Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, will decide to give them for life or not.

He however said Since they spent more than fifty years living in that area and farming on the land as title owners he will beg Paramount ruler to share the Land into two for them as permanent owners.
