Nigeria Immigration Service, on Monday, confirmed the arrest of crossdresser Bobrisky at the Seme border.
Seme border is a settlement in Nigeria on the border with Benin. It is a thirty-minute drive from Badagry on the coastal road between Lagos and Cotonou.
NIS in a statement on Monday evening, disclosed that the crossdresser and social media celebrity had attempted to “flee Nigeria” when he was arrested.
According to the NIS, Bobrisky is currently undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the “appropriate Authorities for further action”.
The NIS said, “In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme Border over an attempt to Exit the Country.
“The Service wishes to inform the public that OKUNEYE IDRIS is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern. He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate Authorities for further action.
“The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the Country’s Borders.”
Bobrisky is currently undergoing investigation by a committee of the House of Representatives alongside the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigerian Correctional Service over bribery allegations.
This followed activist VeryDarkMan’s sharing of a purported audio conversation wherein the crossdresser claimed that he paid some EFCC officials N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him.
The crossdresser later described the viral recording as “fake” and threatened to sue VeryDarkMan for alleged defamation.
