From Olu Osikoya, Abeokuta
The Bishop of the Egba Diocese and Archbishop of RIYE, Most Rev. Adegbemi Atanda Adewale, has noted that transparent governance devoid of self-centered leadership is part of the solutions that must be adopted if the multifaceted challenges facing the Nigerian state are to be solved.
Archbishop Adewale, who disclosed this in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, during an event organised by the church, acknowledged the role of social justice as a key driver to boosting investor confidence in the country.
While speaking on the state of the nation as part of his address, Archbishop Adewale noted that despite the vast natural resources in Nigeria, the leadership question continued to impact negatively on governance.
The Archbishop said equitable distribution of the nation’s resources , investment in infrastructure and social services, including economic diversification, among others, are needed to address some of the challenges plaguing the country.
Archbishop Adewale, while commending the Ogun State Government for upgrading sports facilities ahead of the National Sports Festival in the state, however called for regular maintenance of the facilities and other critical assets for future use.
