No fewer than 22 suspected crossdressers have been arrested by the Kano State Hisbah Board in different parts of the state.
The suspects’ arrest followed complaints from residents.
Deputy Commander General of the Board, Dr Mujahid Aminuddeen, confirmed the arrests.
He said the suspects were apprehended around Zoo Road, Court Road, and other neighbouring areas.
He said most of those arrested entered Kano from other states.
According to him, the suspects, comprising 10 women and 12 men, admitted to engaging in hook-up activities and drug abuse.
The Hisbah boss added that investigations were ongoing and those found guilty would face the law.
He stressed that Hisbah would not tolerate acts of immorality in Kano, adding that the board would intensify its crackdown on such practices.
