Gunmen, on Wednesday, reportedly attacked the old Oyo national park, located in Oke Ogun geopolitical zone, killing a yet-to-be-ascertained number of people.
Reports confirmed that some fatalities were recorded during the shooting carried out by the unknown assailants.
Number of casualties had yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed the development.
The PPRO said the police and other security agents are already on their way to the scene of the attack.
He confirmed this in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday afternoon.
The statement partly read, “Yes there was an attack by yet to be identified men against the men of the national park.
“The Commissioner of Police Oyo State Police Command and other service chief are currently on their way to the location meanwhile the Commissioner of Police Oyo State Police Command CP Femi Haruna have deployed Tactical teams, Mobile Police Force officer of the NPF and EOD to the affected area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.”
