Movement for the Emancipation of North East Forum has lauded Brig Gen Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), CON, OFR for his renewed efforts in launching offensives against drugs-related crimes.

President of the group, Distinguished A B Kwaccham, in a press statement, said Marwa who is the 10th Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is exceptionally doing well in curbing high rate of drug-induced criminality across the country.

Kwacham said the vast experience Marwa garnered while serving as military administrators of Borno between 1990 and 1992 and Lagos State from 1996 to 1999 has helped him to become the Czar in fighting all sorts of drug-related crimes.

He praised the ingenuity of the Adamawa-born General for invigorating NDLEA with a ramped-up drugs supply reduction campaign, which in 10 months of his stay in office delivered over 10,000 arrests, 1,000 convictions and over three million kilograms of assorted drugs and cash seized, valued at over N120billion.

Kwaccham in the press statement rated Marwa’s stewardship as the NDLEA Chairman as superb and credible.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain from Northern Senatorial District of Adamawa State, generally assessed the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration as people-oriented and working in the right direction to better the lives of Nigerians.

He said Marwa is working in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a pragmatic NDLEA Chairman by embarking on a strategic restructuring of the agency to make it fit for modern challenges of enforcing drug laws.

Kwaccham said, “I tell you, Marwa is changing the story of NDLEA; right now he has established an institution for the organization meant to train staff to curtail drug-related crimes. The infrastructure he is building for the organization has never been done since its creation.

“I will use this opportunity to congratulate him for firmly putting us on the path of a drug-free and crime-free country. He can do more if given the opportunity and I tell you he is a wizard in terms of administration and given sound leadership to the Nigerian citizens.”
