Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta(FUNAAB), Prof. Olusola Kehinde has given assurance that the Institution’s Management remains committed to supporting the Agricultural Media Resources and Extension Center(AMREC) in achieving its mandate to farming communities in the South Western parts of the country.

Prof Kehinde tasked the Director and staff of AMREC to continue to justify the significance of the Centre as a critical arm of the University by advancing knowledge, forging more partnership and achieving greater impact for farmers in their area of jurisdiction.

He made this known while delivering his opening remarks during the annual AMREC’s New Year prayer programme, held at the Seminar Room.

The Vice-Chancellor further enjoined staffers of the Centre to sustain the promotion of good image of the University within and outside the country through its extension activities.

He appreciated the noble tradition of offering prayers to God at the beginning of the year, saying that it is good to appreciate God in order to direct one’s path.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olusegun Idowu, Prof Kehinde noted that when people celebrate God, they reflect on what he has done and pray for release, and grace for the new year.

He commended the Director of the Centre, Prof Olalekan Jacob Olaoye for upholding the tradition of excellence and admonished the entire workforce to remain committed and united in discharging their duties.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo, noted that team work, discipline, and a culture of respect are very important and key to institutional development, saying that sincerity and uniformity of purpose would bring progress and lasting impact to the institution.

Earlier, Prof Olaoye said the Centre’s staff face a lot of challenges while discharging their duties, but that God was always on their side.

He stressed that the mandate of AMREC “is to bring the town and gown together”, as he called for more support and cooperation from the University management.

Also, the University Registrar, Dr Titus Adeniyi who ministered at the prayer session, stated that the occasion ‘is a moment of reflection, redefining purposes, and re-establish worthwhile goals’, charging members of the University community amend their way, if they have erred.
