The Forum of South-East Academic Doctors (FOSAD) has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the “brutal and senseless murder of Mr. Ifesinachi Onyekere, popularly known as Fish Magnet, a prominent businessman based in Awka, Anambra State.”
FOSAD in a statement on Thursday entitled, “FOSAD mourns the murder of Ifesinachi Onyekwere aka Fish Magnet, says security has failed in Anambra,” observed that “this reprehensible act once again highlights the alarming breakdown of law and order in the region, and the growing inability of the state to guarantee the safety of its citizens.”

The Forum’s statement further read, “Mr. Onyekere, a respected fish farmer and entrepreneur, was known for his contributions to local commerce and youth empowerment.
“His untimely death owing to kidnap and brutal murder after payment of ransom is not only a personal tragedy for his family and associates, but also a grave loss to the Anambra business community.
“FOSAD condemns this heinous crime in the strongest terms and calls on security agencies to immediately launch a thorough investigation to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice.
“We equally urge the Anambra State Government to rise to its constitutional duty of protecting lives and property, as insecurity continues to cast a long shadow over the state.
“Enough is enough.”
