A former Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Special Duties and Investment, Dr. Ibrahim Osinowo, has kicked against the new tax reform policy introduced by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to Nigerians.
Osinowo spoke in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Friday, when he paid a courtesy call on members of the State Executive of African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Otunba Dr Femi Soluade.
Osinowo, who is aspiring for Ijebu Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North East Federal Constituency on the platform of the ADC, stated this when he paid a courtesy call on the members of the party at the State Secretariat, Itoko, Abeokuta, the state capital
He was warmly received by Otunba Soluade (State Chairman), Hon. Rasak Eyiowuawi (Southwest leader) and Comrade Deji Rowlands (State Youth Leader).
He described the tax reform as anti-people policy and an attempt by the Federal Government to deepen the effects of economic hardships on Nigerians occasioned by subsidy removal.
The former SA, wondered what the state and Federal Governments are using the Federal Account Allocation Committee(FAAC) revenue to do, saying that the tax reform policy would further escalate the skyrocketing inflation, increase prices of goods and services and hunger experienced by Nigerians.
He said, “Absolutely the tax reforms is anti-Nigeria, Nigerians does not find it comfortable in terms of daily lives, income and the rest of it, so I am wondering what the APC led administration is doing on the mogus revenue accommodated to the state and the national governments on subsidy.
“So why bring up a tax reform where ordinary Nigerians could not live more with a N100,000 a month. So what is the benefit of the tax, those taxes they have been collected what have they been used for, we must question state governors what are they using the increased FAAC for. So those are the questions we will ask during the fourth coming campaign. But the tax reform is anti-people is not a good policy for Nigerians that are going through hardship for now.”
Earlier, the Chairman of the party, Soluade while welcoming Osinowo, said It is a great pleasure and moment of joy to welcome “a dear brother to the huge family of ADC in OGUN STATE where everyone is free to ventilate their ambition and express their interest at party executive and elective levels across the state, assuring him of level playing field.”
