Filling stations slash fuel prices

Filling stations across the country, on Friday, reduced their petrol price to attract patronage.

Findings revealed that filling stations in Abuja and environs dropped to N1,295 per liter, down from N1,330.

This means that the fuel price was adjusted by N35 per liter. The latest fuel price reductions were reflected by AA Rano, Ranoil, and Mobil filling stations across different locations in Abuja.

The price review is competitive with major players in the country’s petroleum downstream sector, such as Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, MRS, AP Ardova, and NIPCO, dispensing petrol at N1290 to N1295 rate for weeks.

In his reaction, President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Abubakar Maigandi, said the fresh petrol downward adjustment by some filling stations is to boost patronage.

“It is required to boost patronage,” he said.

Fuel prices have been relatively stable since April 9, 2026, despite crude oil volatility caused by the Iran-United States war in the Middle East.

Friday’s crude oil price data showed that West Texas Intermediate and Brent Blends stood at $94 and $105 per barrel due to Strait of Hormuz opening uncertainty.
