The campaign rally provided an early test of the PDP mobilisation capacity in the area considered strategically important to the party’s prospects in 2027.

Omotayo, at the rally in Ijebu Ode, urged the grassroots’ mobilisation team to ensure that PDP supporters use their votes to sweep out the APC ruling party with their brooms.

He promised a legislative function perfectly by sponsoring some bills that will be more useful to the people in the senatorial district.

“There will be infrastructure development and equitable resources distribution across 9 local government area,” he assured.

While addressing the Mammoth crowd of supporters in Ijebu Ode, he highlighted plans for various sectors of the economy.

He said, “I am well read, not half-baked graduate and my exposure will put me through, compared with my opponent.

“What really prompted me to decide to contest the seat was my opponent telling people that we have nobody to contest in Ijebu Ode; that’s what you should have in mind that this time, Ijebu doesn’t come last. We always come first every time.”

On her part, Alhaja Lateefat Kolapo, the running mate to the PDP governorship candidate, said women should start house-to-house campaigns in order to ensure wins.

She said party members should compare the tenure of the PDP in Ogun State with the current situation of things, assuring them that everything would be back to normal immediately the party wins the election in the state in 2027.

The gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Hon ( Dr) Oladipupo Adebutu, said Ijebu should wake up from their slumber by making sure they vote APC out like the people did in Osun.

“Look at all our roads. Is it because of these roads that are not motorable or hospitals that are all moribund and other dead parastatals that you allow APC to win in 2027?” he asked rhetorically.

Adebutu added, “Is it right not to honour tradition, disturb the kingmakers not to do their legitimate duty? It’s left to you Ijebu’s.

“I assure you if you vote for all our candidates, everything will come back to normal; those that called themselves prince, that neglected tradition, and all PDP candidates have no issues with their certificates. Enough is much for the wise. We are leaving the rest till the time the campaign starts proper.”
