Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has ordered the deployment of over 28,000 operatives from different departments and units of the corps before, during, and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Audi specifically directed that personnel from the Intelligence Directorate, Special Female Squad, Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, Mining Marshals, Quick Response Tactical Team, Counter Terrorism Unit, Operations Department, and Special Weapon and Tactics operatives be involved in the operation.
NSCDC National Public Relations Officer, CSC Afolabi Babawale, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the Commandant General gave the directives as part of his determination to ensure the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure and the safety of lives and property to forestall all acts of criminal tendencies planned by unscrupulous elements.
The statement said the NSCDC Commandant General emphasised tackling the challenges of insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, illegal bunkering activities, vandalism of critical infrastructure, farmer-herder clashes, and all acts of economic sabotage.
Audi charged all state commandants and heads of formations, officers and men, on the need for improved intelligence-gathering techniques through community engagement as grassroots security agencies.
The NSCDC boss added that the bedrock of any security organisation and every successful operation is hinged on credible intelligence tip-off at its disposal.
